Policy Update On October 20, the White House requested a whopping $106 billion in additional funding for border militarization, military funding for Israel, and the war in Ukraine. This funding would add over 1,000 border patrol agents to the already largest law enforcement agency in the country, increase immigration detention capacity, and continue to outsource weapons to support the brutal siege of Palestine. IFCLA strongly opposes this supplemental funding request. A more militarized world is not a safer one. Take action here! What's New with MU (Migrantes Unides)? Migrantes Unidos is starting a PhotoVoice project! We'll use PhotoVoice to spread awareness about the physical and mental effects of digital surveillance on folks seeking asylum, and some of the proactive coping behaviors they use to counteract these harmful impacts. Our compas will share photos that bring to life how they spend their time and pursue their interests and sources of joy. We aim to create a Photo Exhibit next Spring that will showcase their insights. Stay tuned! Actualizaciones de MU (Migrantes Unides) ¡Migrantes Unides está lanzando un proyecto PhotoVoice! Tell President Biden to Stop Further Border Wall Construction! On October 4, the Biden Administration waived 26 environmental, public health, and cultural resource protection laws in order to fast track border wall construction in south Texas. This border wall construction will not only create dangerous conditions for migrants seeking refuge in the United States, but will also trample protections for clean water, Indigenous graves, and endangered species. Tell President Biden that he must take immediate action to reverse this decision and stop any further border wall construction. ¡Dile al Presidente Biden que pare la construcción del muro fronterizo!
