Migrantes Unidos Updates Last Friday, Migrantes Unidos organized a Phone Bank event where we called the ICE office, urging them to take our migrant community seriously and to treat them with dignity. We organized around 50 calls to the ICE office and very few, if any calls actually went through to an ICE Officer. We left messages to make it clear that we will not stop until MU’s 5 demands are fulfilled: |

1. No more ankle monitors! 2. No more abuse! 3. Return their home country passports! 4. Allow for freedom of movement in the United States! 5. Eliminate home visits during work hours! |

The decision on who to surveil, how, and when are all left to the discretion of local ICE officers. The local ICE office single-handedly has the power to actualize each and every one of these demands, shifting the way ISAP functions, and drastically improving the quality of life of the asylum seekers residing in the St. Louis Metro Area. Stay tuned for future efforts to urge ICE to make the necessary changes. |

Policy Update / La Actualización de las Políticas The Biden Administration has refused to end its reliance on detention. Since the end of Title 42 in May, the number of people subjected to detention and monitoring has increased dramatically. Nearly 30,000 people are behind bars in immigration detention, more than double the number of people in detention at the beginning of the Biden Administration. Last week, we held a Missouri Immigration Policy Coalition convening to discuss how we can build power across Missouri to fight against racist attacks on our community. ***** La administración de Biden se ha negado a ponerle un alto a la dependencia de la detención. Accompaniment Efforts / Programa de Acompañamiento In an effort to connect asylum seekers and other immigrants in St. Louis with necessary resources, IFCLA has created a Resource and Services Guide in Spanish. He has the power to make impactful and everlasting changes in the lives of immigrants. The ISPN's monthly general meetings focus on bringing service providers together to connect and participate in cross-collaborative work. The Immigrant Service Providers Network (ISPN) hosts its meetings the fourth Wednesday of the month.
