Happy Día de los Muertos! Today and tomorrow, IFCLA is remembering and celebrating the lives of our community’s departed loved ones through an ofrenda at our office. Thank you to all who have sent in photos of their departed friends and family - we are happy and honored to celebrate them with you! If you’d still like to share any photos with us for the ofrenda, please email your photos to ifcla@iflca.net. (What is Día de los Muertos? Learn more here.)

Among those of our community’s departed loved ones, our altar also includes the names and photos of some of the many lives lost as a result of the US’ racist and deadly immigration system. We stand in solidarity with those who continue to be harmed by our unjust immigration system. #SayTheirNames

Hoy y mañana, IFCLA está recordando y celebrando las vidas de seres querides difuntes de nuestra comunidad a través de una ofrenda en nuestra oficina. ¡Gracias a todes que han mandado fotos de sus amigues y familia difuntes - estamos felices y honrades para celebrarles con ustedes! The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals found the DACA memorandum to be unlawful.

The new DACA rule, published in August, was sent back to the trial court to determine its legality. DACA recipients should not have to live court case to court case. We need permanent protections now. Urge Congress to pass a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants today.

El Quinto Circuito de Apelaciones dictaminó que el memorándum de DACA no es legal.

La nueva regla, que fue publicada en agosto, se envió a la corte inferior para determinar la legalidad. Les beneficiaries de DACA no deberían tener que vivir de un caso a otro. ABH: The Garcia Family documentary 

On Saturday, November 5, “The Garcia Family” documentary will be screening at 11:30am at Galleria 6 as a part of the St. Louis International Film Festival. This documentary details a period of the Garcia family’s ongoing fight for permanent protection for Alex Garcia, during which Alex was forced to seek sanctuary in Christ Church Maplewood. Accompaniment Monthly Meeting for Current Volunteers/ Reunión mensual de acompañamiento para los voluntarios en activo

Our next virtual Accompaniment Monthly Meeting will be November 18, from 2-3pm. Amidst the transitions the IFCLA team has seen this summer, we will provide updates on recent changes and efforts within our ICE accompaniment program. ISPN Virtual Conference 2022

The Immigrant Service Providers Network will be hosting their free, virtual conference, “We Are St. Louis: Growth and Collaboration in our Communities” on Friday, November 4 from 9:30am - 4:30pm. Through a series of panel discussions, workshops, and presentations, speakers will highlight the diverse experiences of immigrants in St. Louis within service provisions and community engagement and collaboration. Plus, don’t miss networking with other participants at the virtual, 9am “coffee and chat,” or at the 5-7pm happy hour social at Wasabi Sushi Bar.

La Red de Proveedores de Servicio a Inmigrantes será la anfitriona de su conferencia gratuita y virtual “Somos San Luis: Crecimiento y Colaboración en Nuestras Comunidades” (“We Are St. Louis: Growth and Collaboration in our Communities),” el viernes 4 de noviembre de 9:30am - 4:30pm. A través de una serie de discusiones, talleres y presentaciones, les presentadores subrayarán las diversas experiencias de inmigrantes en St. Louis dentro de las provisiones de servicio y la colaboración e involucramiento con la comunidad. A Day for Dreamers in Columbia/Un Día para les Dreamers en Columbia

On Saturday, November 5 from 11am - 2pm, grassroots organizers in Columbia, Missouri are hosting a day for Dreamers. There will be free food, local bands, and dynamic speakers. Taking place outside the Boone County Courthouse, this community event will be an opportunity to build relationships and advocate for permanent protections. Click here for more information.
