It continues to be a busy summer at IFCLA, from ongoing accompaniment efforts to community-building opportunities such as shows at The Muny and an upcoming Cardinals game (details below)! 

We’ve also made an exciting new addition to IFCLA’s Education program. As we continue to grow into antiracist, intersectional, and effective immigration activists, we are meeting virtually to discuss books that align with our mission and vision through IFCLA’s new Book Club. We are pleased to share that we completed the first book, “Undoing Border Imperialism” last month, and we even had the pleasure of being joined by the author herself, Harsha Walia, during our final session for the book.

We hope you’ll join us in reading our next Book Club pick, “13 Colors of the Honduran Resistance” by Melissa Cardoza. You can purchase this book online. We are still deciding on a date and time for the next book club, so let us know what times work best for you by filling out this survey! También hicimos una emocionante y nueva adición al Programa de Educación de IFCLA. Mientras continuamos creciendo como activistas efectives, antirracistas e interseccionales de inmigración, nos estamos reuniendo virtualmente para discutir libros que estén en consonancia con nuestra misión y visión en nuestro Club de Lectura. Estamos complacides de compartir que completamos el primer libro, Deshaciendo el Imperialismo de Fronteras (“Undoing Border Imperialism”) el pasado mes, e inclusive tuvimos el placer de ser acompañades por la autora, Harsha Walia, durante nuestra sesión final del libro.

Defend the Right to Asylum/Defiende el derecho al asilo. 

Last month, House Republicans pushed through an amendment to codify Title 42 in the federal budget for FY2023. This is a racist attack on migrants’ right to seek asylum. As the Budget Reconciliation Process continues in the Senate, we urge you to defend the right to asylum. 

El mes pasado, Republicanos de la Cámara promovieron una enmienda para codificar el Título 42 en el presupuesto federal para el Año Fiscal 2023. Esto es un ataque racista que impide el derecho de pedir asilo. Mientras continúa el Proceso de Reconciliación del Presupuesto en el Senado, te invitamos a que defiendas el derecho al asilo.

ISPN General Meeting / Reunión General de ISPN

The Immigrant Service Providers Network is meeting on August 24 at 9am. The ISPN's monthly general meetings focus on bringing service providers together to connect and participate in cross-collaborative work. The Immigrant Service Providers Network (ISPN) hosts its meetings the fourth Wednesday of the month. Click here to register.

La Red de Proveedores de Servicios para Inmigrantes (ISPN por sus siglas en inglés) se reunirá el 24 de agosto a las 9:00AM. Las reuniones generales mensuales de ISPN tienen como objetivo juntar a proveedores de servicios para conectar y participar en trabajo colaborativo.
