Dear Friend,

We are so excited to share all of the amazing things we have done as a family. Over the last few weeks we have enjoyed fishing in Forest Park, exploring the Science Center, History Museum, petting the stingrays at the Aquarium and visiting the animals at the Zoo. All of this was made possible because of your support and dedication to fight for Alex's freedom and our family unity. We are looking forward to continuing to explore St. Louis and build community with all of you.

In the upcoming week IFCLA will be partnering with SLU Department of Languages, Literatures, & Cultures to co-host an Atlas Week 2021 event: Sanctuary in St. Louis: Screening and discussion of The Garcia Family, a Documentary Film on Wednesday, April 14 from 3-4pm on Zoom. Registration is required as this is not a public event. You may register here.

During this event, we will have the opportunity to view the documentary about Alex's second year in sanctuary and what it was like for our family and our supporters during this traumatizing time in our lives, with a special clip of Alex's celebration leaving Christ Church UCC on February 24, 2021; 1,252 days after being separated from his family. After the viewing of the half hour documentary, we will wrap up with Sara John, IFCLA's Executive Director, in a Q&A and discuss ways you can get involved in fighting for the rights of immigrants like Alex.

We are currently standing at 4,750 signatures on Alex's petition! This will be a critical tool in pursuing Alex's permanent freedom. Please continue to share the petition with family, friends and co-workers. If you know 10 people that will take a stand for Alex and his family, please send it to them right now - and be sure you ask everyone who signs to recruit 5-10 more people to sign the petition.

Our team continues to work closely with Rep. Cori Bush’s team on Alex’s private bill (HR 1209). If you haven’t already, feel free to click here to fill out the Congresswoman’s April survey and show her your support for our family by adding “Citizenship for Alex Garcia and all undocumented immigrants” in the “Other” box (in addition to other important issues you’d like her to prioritize).

Thank you so much for your continued support. Please continue to follow us on social media. Stay safe!

Sincerely,

The Garcia Family
