Dear friend,

Several exciting changes are coming to IFCLA! First, the Board of Directors and IFCLA staff are thrilled to announce the hire of our new Executive Director, Allison “Ali” Rand (she/her). Ali will join the team starting on September 12th, working remotely from Mexico City as she plans her move to St. Louis at the end of October. Ali has 15 years experience working to implement community development field projects, particularly in the areas of migration, refugee assistance, trafficking in persons, and gender rights. She is excited to become a part of IFCLA’s team and support its work accompanying the people of Latin America in their efforts to ensure human rights and social justice for all.

The good news doesn’t stop there. We are pumped to welcome Gabby Eissner (she/her), previously our Social Work and Policy Fellow, to the IFCLA staff team as our part-time Community Organizer! Next week, we will also welcome Amira Chambers-Ottley (she/her), a MSW candidate at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. For her practicum, Amira will support our accompaniment and policy work over the next year.

Among these transitions, we are also saying “see you later” to our Community Organizer, Rita Chang (she/her), and to our Accompaniment Co-Coordinator, Allie Seleyman (she/her). Rita’s roles in our education and advocacy efforts, strategic planning, and the organization's anti-racist journey, have been vital to IFCLA’s efforts as a part of the greater immigrant justice movement. And if you’re familiar with IFCLA’s Accompaniment Program, it's largely Allie you have to thank for its growth over the past 3 years! We are immensely grateful for all of their hard work, dedication, and leadership, and we are excited for what their next chapters hold.

Many thanks to all of the IFCLA community, staff, and board members during this time of transition for their continued leadership, persistence, and dedication to building a more inclusive and safe Missouri for all. Adelante!

¡Varios cambios emocionantes se acercan a IFCLA! Primero, la Junta Directiva y el Equipo de Trabajo de IFCLA están emocionades de anunciar la contratación de nuestra nueva Directora Ejecutiva, Allison “Ali” Rand (ella). Ali se unirá al equipo comenzando el 12 de septiembre, trabajando remotamente desde la Ciudad de México mientras planifica su mudanza a San Luis a finales de octubre. Ali tiene 15 años de experiencia trabajando para implementar proyectos de campo de desarrollo comunitario, particularmente en áreas de migración, asistencia a refugiades, tráfico de personas y derechos de género. Ella está muy emocionada de ser parte del equipo de IFCLA  y de apoyar su misión de acompañar a la gente de Latino América en sus esfuerzos para asegurar los derechos humanos y la justicia social para todas las personas.

Para su práctica, Amira apoyará nuestro trabajo en acompañamiento, ley y política durante el siguiente año.

Entre estas transiciones, también estamos diciendo “nos vemos pronto” a nuestra organizadora comunitaria, Rita Chang (ella) y a nuestra Co-Coordinadora de Acompañamiento, Allie Seleyman (ella). Desde sus roles en nuestros esfuerzos de educación y defensa de derechos, planificación estratégica y la jornada antiracista de nuestra organización, el trabajo de Rita ha sido vital para IFCLA dentro del movimiento amplio de justicia para inmigrantes. ¡Y si conoces el Programa de Acompañamiento de IFCLA, es en gran parte a Allie que tienes que agradecer por su crecimiento en los pasados 3 años! Estamos inmensamente agradecides por todo su trabajo duro, dedicación y liderazgo, y estamos emocionades por lo que les espera en el siguiente capítulo de sus vidas. 

Muchas gracias a toda la comunidad de IFCLA, al equipo de trabajo, y a los miembros de la junta durante este tiempo de transición por su contínuo liderazgo, persistencia y dedicación en construir un Misuri más inclusivo para todes. ¡Adelante!

Community Cook-Off: Cocktails & Spritz / Torneo de Cocina Comunitario: Cocteles y  Licores

You’re invited to join us on Thursday, September 15, from 6:30-8pm, at the St. John the Baptist School Cafeteria for our Community Cook-Off: Cocktails & Spritz! Sign up today to enjoy some snacks and delicious drinks in good company. We’ll also hear from Gabby Eissner, who will facilitate an advocacy activity for us!

We need 6 chefs! We are looking for 3 who will make cocktails and 3 who will make mocktails (cocktails without alcohol). You can enter the cook-off by simply filling out this registration form as a “Chef,” and we’ll be in touch!

La Red de Proveedores de Servicios para Inmigrantes (ISPN por sus siglas en inglés) se reunirá el 28 de septiembre a las 9:00am. Las reuniones generales mensuales de ISPN tienen como objetivo juntar a proveedores de servicios para conectar y participar en trabajo colaborativo.
